A scan tool is essential for tuning and keeping
our Turbo V-6's alive. Many Turbo Regal enthusiasts use the
Scanmaster (available from www.fullthrottlespeed.com)
but what good is it if you can't read the
data? Ever since I bought mine I have been back and forth on where to
mount it. The best place of course would be in your direct line of vision.
The problem is when you mount the Scanmaster on the top of the main dash you can
hardly read the LED display because of sun glare. An added problem that always
bothered me was the reflections of the display on the windshield at night. A lot
of people mount it on top of the radio pod so they can view it in the bright light.
Unfortunately this isn't too safe a position to view when racing as you have to
take your eyes off the track!
We have come up with a simple
solution for this! This easy to install shade hood will allow you to read the
LED display in all but direct sun from the rear of the car. No more reflections
in the windshield at night! The interference fit will even allow you to
slide the hood forward if the sun is really strong. I tested this
product on a four hour trip and it worked great. The hood is available in
plain black anodized finish or with a logo engraved in it that can be viewed thru the windshield. The hood is supplied with double
sided tape if you want to permanently mount it to the Scanmaster.
NOTE! THIS HOOD WAS DEVELOPED SO YOU CAN MOVE THE
SCANMASTER TO THE TOP OF THE MAIN DASHBOARD OVER THE SPEEDOMETER AREA. IF
YOU INSTALL THE HOOD ON A SCANMASTER MOUNTED ON THE TOP OF THE RADIO POD IT MAY
BE DIFFICULT TO READ BECAUSE OF THE OVERHANG OF THE HOOD.
