There has been a long absence of a high quality custom hood liner for Turbo
Regals. We are now offering the Boost Liner product line. The
original hood liners are hard to come by these days with no word of anyone
coming out with a true reproduction. The Boost Liners are constructed from
aluminum and then are painted matte or gloss black. Gloss black will
reflect your motor compartment so if you have a show worth motor you might
want to show it off more with this finish. Vinyl graphics are then
added. I have been wanting to bring a product like this back to our
site again and have been approached by this new manufacturer about selling
them. They are a perfect fit to the custom items we have been selling
for more than 25 years and we are more than happy to take them up on their
offer.
They look very similar to the original without the hassle of worrying about
it getting torn and how to safely clean without ruining it. They simply wipe
off. Please be sure to check for clearance on your up pipe if you are
running a non stock size up pipe. On my own GN that has a 70mm throttle body
and a 3" up pipe, it just barely rubbed but just made some adjustments
with my up pipe and hose to
get enough clearance. I also run a RJC Power plate that add just about a
1/4" of height. A 10th hole is added to the Boost Liner which will help with
clearance issues. That hole is already in the hood so makes sense to use it.
A few other things can cause clearance issues, worn body
mounts that will move the hood closer to the motor, worn transmission mount
that will cause the motor to tilt up a bit. I suggest that a 10th hole
be added to the Boost Liner which will help with clearance issues in the up
pipe area. That hole is already in the hood so makes sense to use it. Just want to make you
aware so you don't just mount the Boost Liner and slam the hood! Make sure
you check for clearance!
The included Plastic Rivet style fasteners hold it tighter to the hood than
the GM ones. You also want to make sure you use t bolt clamps on your up
pipe hose connections so you don't blow the up pipe off. The last thing you
want to do is ruin your new Boost Liner by denting it. I have
installed hood liners by myself with one of our fender covers and plenty of
blankets to protect the liner and your paint job. I highly suggest and extra
set of hands to help with the installation if possible.
These will also fit the 84-5 non-intercooled Turbo
Regals as well as the 86-7 Intercooled cars, no need to use the stock heat
shield on the 84-5 cars. Will look much cleaner.
